Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Begin your unique northern approach at Rongai Gate (1,950m) near the Kenyan border. Trek through farmland and pine forest with views of Kenya. The trail is less crowded, offering a peaceful start to your adventure at Simba Camp (2,625m).

Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp
Continue through moorland with spectacular views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields. The trail offers a different perspective of Kilimanjaro rarely seen by other routes. Arrive at Second Cave Camp (3,450m).

Second Cave to Third Cave Camp
Steady ascent through the moorland zone with increasingly sparse vegetation. Enjoy the solitude and unique northern views of the mountain. The landscape becomes more lunar-like as you reach Third Cave Camp (3,760m).

Third Cave to Kibo Hut
Cross the lunar landscape towards Kibo Hut (4,703m). The terrain becomes increasingly barren and rocky. This is your final camp before the summit attempt, offering spectacular views of the glaciers.

Summit Day - Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Start at midnight for Uhuru Peak (5,895m) via Gilman's Point. Experience sunrise from Africa's highest point, then descend via the Marangu route to Horombo Hut (3,720m) for overnight rest.
Day 6 Image

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Final descent through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate (1,860m). Collect your summit certificates and celebrate your achievement. Transfer back to Moshi for well-deserved rest and celebration.
